Windows 10: Latest Windows 10 update broke my laptop

My HP ENVY Sleekbook 4-1047tx laptop running Windows 10 Home received major Windows updates recently and then the following developments happened in the last 2 days:

• my wifi kept getting disconnected every 2 minutes even after troubleshooting;
• then BSOD error: THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER (restarting my laptop in a loop);
• followed by BSOD error code: 0xc0000017 saying "There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device".

I was no longer able to boot Windows after that, not even in Safe Mode.


Every step of the way, I have tried to fix the problem using suggestions from Microsoft Community. I reset network adapters, reinstalled network drivers, reinstalled display drivers, checkdisk, bcdedit, whatever I could find online. I finally got tired of all the troubleshooting and decided to do a clean install using an ESD-USB I created with Media Creation Tool.


Unfortunately, it didn't help. I'm still in a THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER hell loop and with Recovery message saying "It looks like Windows didn't load correctly". I tried to troubleshooting via Command Prompt (bcedit, chkdisk again) and even reinstalled a couple of times but i'm still stuck.


And now I'm not sure what else I can try. Is there still hope or am I now being forced to get a new laptop?

Laptop turns unusable after latest windows 10 update

We have to make sure that the Windows Update is installed properly on your laptop. To check if it is installed already, please follow these steps:

• Press the Win + I buttons.
• Select Update & Security.
• Click View installed update history. The latest update should have been installed and dated last week.

If your laptop does not have the latest update yet, you can manually get the update by following the above steps 1 and 2, then select
Check update.

In case that your laptop has already the latest Windows Update installed, please follow the troubleshooting steps on this

link.

Microsoft to make Windows 10 updates mandatory

Well, at the moment at least, you can choose to defer upgrades. Under Settings > Windows Updates > Advanced options you need to check the box labeled "Defer upgrades". What does that do? Good question. The answer I've found might illuminate it to a degree.

I hear this only applies to Pro and Enterprise editions. But I can't verify that.
