Windows 10: launcher.exe system error

Need some help from you all.

I have a gaming pc I use only for gaming and watching youtube.

After I downloaded from xbox pass State of decay 2 I started getting a window poping up


launcher.exe. system error

The code execution cannot proceed because htmlayout.dll

was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.


I have uninstalled the game twice and reinstalled it but it has had not affect. it pops up randomly but does pop up as I sign into my account after start up.

I have since deleted all games from my pc and its still there.


I have followed other posts and did virus scans ans malware scan but they have come up with nothing.


I dont know what else to do.

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community. May we ask if what troubleshooting you have tried? We highly suggest you to try the steps below.

• Restart your phone.
• If the issue persists after restarting your phone, it only means that the default launcher is needed for any other launchers to work properly. Re-installing the default launcher should resolve the issue.

Once your Android phone is back on its default settings, re-install the Microsoft Launcher and your other apps.

Note: You can easily restore your Microsoft Launcher settings if you have performed a back up. To back up your Microsoft Launcher settings, please do the following:

1. Launch the Microsoft Launcher settings. (Tap and hold your phone's home screen and tap on the
   Launcher Settings.)
2. Tap Back up & Restore.
3. Tap Back up Microsoft Launcher option.
4. Confirm that the Back up to cloud storage option is selected.
5. Tap the Back up button.
6. Check the settings that you want to back up.
7. Tap the Back up now button.

You may restore your Microsoft Launcher back up after re-installing it.

If you can no longer re-install your phone's default launcher, please get in touch with its manufacturer for assistance on how you can reset it to its factory settings.

I would like to inform that Regsvr32.exe Application Error
Codes are caused by misconfigured system files in your windows operating system or by the following reasons:

• missing or damaged or modified .dll files.
• Invalid Entry or Command path.
• Active X control errors.
• Registry issues.
• Viral or Malware Attack.

I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
• After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.
