  1. Leaving Windows for good

For several years now I've been using Windows 10 on my desktop alongside Ubuntu Linux. I used Windows because of the vast software library and Linux because sometimes I enjoy casual programming. Several times I have had to reinstall Windows 10 due to various problems, often losing important data along the way. Once because the start menu and the settings app simply ceased to work among other system apps after an update. Another time because I installed the wrong overclocking software from AMD's website! and it broke my operating system. Another time for an unknown reason. During this same amount of time, several years I have had to reinstall Ubuntu zero times. Today, Windows updated again and the start menu, settings app, and other system apps quit working again. I spent over an hour finding many with the same issue online but no solutions that worked. After this, I've decided to leave Windows and use only Ubuntu. The only software I will have to leave behind is Forza Motorsport as it is an UWP app and so not compatible with Steam. I can do gaming through Steam on Linux and native Linux games. I can do video editing through DaVinci Resolve as I already did on Windows. I can do word processing and spreadsheets through LibreOffice as I did on Windows. As such, I will leave Windows until Microsoft can get their **** together and make an operating system that doesn't break itself every 6 months. It's become too much of a hassle to be worth my time. I need the stability that Linux has always offered me.

The reason I'm making this post is not to make fun of Windows or Microsoft or even to advertise Linux as a better alternative. I simply needed to tell my story and hopefully encourage Microsoft to focus more on stability rather than whatever they are right now.

    :)

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Leaving Windows for good :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
