    LEGAL

How many out there experienced the same problem as I just did? Millions? Is there enough for a class action against MS?

Basically, the tried to sell me something and failed miserably by ruining my laptop, then disappeared without a word - very convenient! It's like someone denting someone else's car, then walking off without compensation, and without saying a word! In normal circumstances litigation would be the way to go for compensation. But in a case like this one, MS is able to walk away because of the difficulty of instituting legal redress.

    THE ISSUE

Can MS get away with a botched attempt at reinstalling Win10 in order to replace an already-installed Win10 that is working properly? They should have a system that checks if my Toshiba was able to accept the Win10 upgrade (that, in any case, I did not need). I am left with a dead laptop and unable to restore my old existing Win10 OS. It is surely not unfair for me to think that MS should face damage-liability.

One of their online engineers who had remote control of my HP desktop (2 May 2019) said that my Toshiba model has an outdated BIOS from 2007, and that this could be the reason why the new Win10 upgrade won't work on my machine. The next day (3 May 2019) another of their tech-experts said the same. He advised me to take my machine to a PC shop for restoration. I now have to waste another 2-3 days visiting a local PC help shop. Also, I will need to fork out something like 150 euros for the privilege of fixing the mess that MS caused!

I have lost more than a week's work on various projects because of being busy full time trying to deal with this issue. Like many other consumers I guess, I have also suffered other 'pains' such as unfair frustration.

Since launch, I have run Win10 on my Toshiba laptop, and on my HP desktop. I never experienced the slightest problem. I seldom use the Toshiba. But because MS took scanning out of Word 2013, and I still use MS XP Word on my Toshiba, 4 days ago (1 May 2019) I again needed to scan a document to a USB, then into Word 2013 on my HP. Scanning with One Note only works if I had bought the whole office suit. While I was busy on the Toshiba MS unexpectedly popped up and invited me to a Fresh Start' Win10 instal saying it would speed things up. I agreed.

It worked fine for the remainder of 1 May 2019. The next day it refused to boot and froze. A DOS-type lettering on the top said something like, Pageflow program is missing, skipping Pageflow..

I am a software user, not a technician. I do not have a clue about how to figure out really tricky issues. In this case, after several hours of remote and mobile telephone chats, even MS engineers were unable to help.

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
