Windows 10: Lenovo Ideapad 330 with Intel Canon Lake CPU spotted

Intel is reportedly having some difficulty in mapping its new 10nm processor. Back in September 2017, reports suggested that Intel would delay the rollout of its new 10nm Cannon Lake processor until end of 2018. Fast forward to Q1 2018, In early February in a conference call with the CEO, Brian Krzanich officially confirmed that 10nm Cannon Lake chip won’t ship until 2019.

While on another hand, partners are working very actively with Intel to resolve the problem. Meanwhile, Computer Base spotted all new 15-inch Lenovo IdeaPad 330 with Intel Core i3-8121U processor on one of the Chinese retailer website. As per the listing on retailer’s website, the CPU of Lenovo IdeaPad 330 have 10nm Cannon Lake architecture and it is equipped with dual-core at 4-thread processing.

Furthermore, it also reveals that the chip will run at a base 2.2 GHz and up to 3.2 GHz with Turbo Boost. Other specification includes:

• GPU: No Integrated Graphics, discrete AMD Radeon RX 540 2GB
• Display: 15.6-inch 1366×768 TN
• Memory: 4GB or 8GB, DDR4-2133/2400, number of slots unknown
• Storage: 500GB HDD or 1TB HDD, 5400RPM, 128GB SSD or 256GB SSD
• Dimensions: 378 x 260 x 22.7 mm, 2.1 kg
• Connectivity: Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB 3.0 Type-A, 1 x USB Type-C, 3.5mm jack, HDMI output, CD/DVD drive
• OS: Windows 10
• Price: from 3299CNY (US$449) with 4GB RAM / 500GB HDD

$450 for the mentioned specification is quite affordable but what is more interesting here is that Lenovo IdeaPad 330 will feature DDR4 RAM, so maybe Intel finally decided to leave the DDR3 class of RAM behind.

In case if you don’t know Intel’s Core i3-8121U is said to be an ordinary processor with integrated graphics but as per the listing it’s missing on Lenovo IdeaPad 330. Maybe that could be one of the reasons why Intel is having difficulty in integrating 10nm Cannon Lake chip. Who knows?

However, the Chinese retailer hasn’t mentioned the release date on site. So don’t expect the new device with Intel Canon Lake CPU anytime soon.

Synaptic's Driver Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 for Windows 10

I am having trouble finding a Synaptic's driver for the Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 so that more functions can be used on the touchpad. Lenovo site does not list one for this computer. Any suggestions?

 

Compatibility of Lenovo Ideapad S400 to Windows 10

I have lenovo Ideapad S400 notebook (i3-2nd gen, Ati 7450, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 HP SP1 etc.). According to lenovo's compatibility list, Ideapad S 400 is not fully compatible TO UPGRADE FOR WINDOWS 10 ; so not recommended for this upgrade. But relax,
Ideapad S400 is 100% compatible to Windows 10. No hardware issue or no driver issue were found with this free upgrade to Windows 10. My notebook is performing great with windows 10 . But I would like to advice to all Ideapad
S400 users to upgrade their pc from iso file downloaded from Media creation tool
instead of windows update or direct upgrade by MCT.
