Less diskspace after windowsupdate. Removing programs doesnt help!

    Hi!

So I noticed I kept Windows 10 updates off for a while. I probably had some reason to do this months ago and I decided to turn it on again. After updating, I noticed I had 15 G less of space on my C disk (after already doing my best to keep it as clean as possible, it had 20G left prior to updating and has a total of 128G ssd). So...after concluding I had only 5 G left, I decided to remove some things I dont use a lot anymore at the moment. I removed 12G of programs, but for some strange reason the amount of diskspace still stayed the same *Rolleyes
Anyone knows why and has a solution for me? Would be much appreciated! *Smile

    :)

Dont use device manager / windowsupdate to find drivers. It doesnt always find updated drivers.

Go to whatever site and get a later driver, if it's available

And if the wireless drivers are crashing , a separate firewall program, can cause it

    Disk partitioning and warrenty issue

Memory and Diskspace are not the same thing. 846 GB free is more than adequate and will not impact video playback.

Try and close any other programs you are running when you try and watch videos and see if it helps.

    Welcome to TenForums @neoking

A reduction in disk space of that magnitude usually indicates you have had a Features Update which would have upgraded you the the latest version of windows, the Fall Creators update (1709). The 15GB (often more) is occupied by a windows.old folder containing your old system (in case you want to go back to the earlier version).

If you are sure you don't need to roll back, then you can delete windows.old. The simplest way to do this is to use Disk Clean-up and click the 'clean up system files' button. That's Option One in this tutorial...

Cleaning up system files like this also can clean up update backups files and, on the 'more options' tab, delete all but the latest restore point, often releasing several GB. That's covered in Option Two in this tutorial...
