Windows 10: Libraries Layout: I Want Tiles!

I am reaching a breaking point with this.

I use File Explorer Libraries pretty much exclusively. All I want is to see everything in the Tiles layout.

I already have File Explorer set to view everything in Tiles otherwise (i.e. when not navigating within Libraries) and that works fine. But within Libraries the layout keeps defaulting to Details whenever I create or modify a Library, and sometimes even reverts to Details in Libraries I've already managed to change to Tiles.

The only way to change layouts to Tiles that I have figured out is manually, one folder at a time. This entails navigating to the folder, changing the layout from Details to Tiles, navigating out of the folder, navigating back to find it went back to Details, and changing the layout from Details to Tiles again, always at least twice, and often several times, until the Tiles layout finally "sticks". Even then, if I navigate via the navigation pane rather than the address bar, the layout reverts back to Details, requiring the process to be repeated, so I don't even bother using the navigation pane much anymore.

This. Is. Infuriating.

It used to be (I think Windows 7 and earlier) you could get a particular Library layout to stick by just doing a CTRL-W. Upon reopening the preferred layout would be in place. Not any more apparently.

I've always found it stupid that Windows will ask you what you want to "optimize" a Library for (General Items, Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos) and then decide for you how the layout should be. No, let me decide that, thank you very much! Not to mention that there appears to be no difference I can see between General Items and Documents, and that none of the "optimize" options are associated with the Tiles layout.

And now Libraries are turned off by default. And I also have the problem of it taking forever to create a new folder while in Library view. It's almost as if Windows doesn't want you to use Libraries anymore. Oh just ask Cortana! It will find everything for you! No No No NO NO! I have 54,000 files in over 6,000 folders carefully organized and curated via 44 Libraries. I need Libraries to work. And I want to see everything as Tiles.

Okay sorry for the rant, but this is driving me insane. I need a solution. As none of the normal File Explorer settings seem to apply here, I am hoping there is somewhere in the registry where I can force the default layout to Tiles instead of Details. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nokia Lumia 830 with Lumia Denim and tile layout puzzle

OK...deep breath: My Lumia 830 was working great. It had a working memory card in and it had the three-tile layout with no option in Settings > Start+theme to toggle between three-tile and two-tile layout.

Today I heard beeping from my pocket and pulled out the phone thinking I must have been accidentally activating Cortana or something.

The tiles had changed to a two-tile Start Screen layout. And the phone wasn't recognising my microSD card.

In Settings > Start+theme there was now an option at the bottom to select three or two tile layout.

In fact, I liked the bigger tiles, so rearranged them all.

But the phone still wasn't recognising the memory card.

When I took the memory card out...ie no card in the phone...and restarted it, the phone was back to a three-tile layout with no option in Start+them to change it.

It's the same if I put a new memory card in that is recognised by the phone.

But....if I put the card that's not recognised back into the phone...yup, you've got it...the choice of two or three tile layout returns.

*puzzled* *think I'm going mad*

To add to this....the official Lumia 830 Microsoft page says the choice to toggle between two and three tile start screen should be there:

I'm confused. Trouble is I quite liked the two-tile layout...easier to read calendar tiles etc...but I also want a working memory card.

Oh...and also...Glance wasn't working with the two-tile layout...but works fine with the three-tile layout.

 

How to save a layout designed using xaml which consists one label and image in picture library/media library

I'm working on windows mobile application . I came across some links and have the idea of saving a single image in picture library.

Now i want to save a layout (consists some labels and an image designed using xaml).

Anyone have the idea of saving a layout in pictures library of mobile using c# code..........please help.

To enable library views right click in the navigation pane in file explorer, basically the left hand section. Yes there was an article or two about phasing out libraries after we all just use to them. Anyway when you right click in navigation pane, left click on "Show libraries"

Thank you Ken for taking the time to read and respond to my post.

Unfortunately neither that Tutorial nor another I have already seen (at the link below) are of any use.

Again, I think the solution is not available through any of the usual settings because File Explorer layout options are only selectively (not to mention poorly) matched up with Library optimizations/templates.

Something, somewhere in Windows is telling Library views to default (and revert) to the Details layout, possibly in the registry. I am hoping to be able to change that default to Tiles.

Or at least prevent the Library view from overriding how I have already set File Explorer to view folders, as Tiles. That is another infuriating thing about all of this. If I’m just in File Explorer (not my Libraries), everything is Tiles, just the way I set it up to be! So why does navigating within Libraries override that?!
