    Hello,

    Been trying to figure out how my license situation will work, and I think I have it down, but just need to check.


    I have 2 PCs at home.


    My first PC had a retail, black box, Windows 7 Ultimate which I purchased from Best Buy. This PC also had a retail, download purchased Windows 8.1 installed as well in a dual boot configuration. Basically running 2 full retail copies of Windows. In 2015 when Microsoft launched Windows 10, I took advantage of the free upgrade and upgraded it from my Windows 8.1 install. I was then running Windows 7 alongside WIndows 10 for a few months. After not using 7 anymore, I wiped clean the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 10 fresh and it auto activated, I have not changed the configuration since then.


    My second PC is currently running a legitimate retail purchased copy of Windows Vista. I don't do anything special with this PC other than use it for background media when working in the basement.


    I am considering getting more out of my second PC, and would like to wipe clean Vista, and install Windows 10 with my Windows 7 key. The second PC is old but more than meets the requirements needed to run Windows 10. Will this work?


    Secondly, I plan to upgrade the first PC either this year or next with a new motherboard and everything. Will it reactivate after install on the new machine?


    I thnk all of this will work, as they are both Full retail copies of 7 and 8.1 but please help me understand if I am wrong. Thanks.

    License Key Help

    Need Serious Help: How To Record Video of What is Done on my PC?

    I suggest the following simple steps:

    1. Set the autosave options in MS Office to a low value say 5 minutes.
    2. Setup file history to autosave frequently - the shortest period is 5 mins
    3. Install Macrium Reflect Free and configure it to do a daily incremental system backup

    You should be well covered if you do the above to protect your key files.
