Windows 10: "Listen to this device" not working with Stereo Mix?

I use this to output all system audio through an HDMI cord to another pc for streaming. I haven't changed any settings, but there was a windows update. I have tried stopping and starting, as well as another method: taskkill /f /pid "4036" to stop the audio service which it did and restarted it. Still no audio out..

Method 1:

Try the following steps to enable the stereo mix and check if that help.



a) Right click on the audio icon in your system tray and select “Recording Devices” to open the Recording device settings in the “Sound” window.



b) In the pane, right-click on a blank area, and make sure both “View Disabled Devices” and “View Disconnected Devices” options are checked. You should be able to see the “Stereo Mix” option appearing.



c) Right-click on “Stereo Mix” and click “Enable” to be able to use it.



This should enable the “Stereo Mix” on Windows



Method 2:

If the issue persists then I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the sounds card driver and check if it helps.

  Right Click on Start, Select Device Manager.
  
• 
  Find and double-click the category of device whose driver you wish to uninstall.
  
• 
  Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.
  
• 
  Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click
  OK to remove the driver.
  
• 
  After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible

Stereo Mix stopped working

I've connected my TV to the HDMI port on my motherboard. I have set up the Stereo Mix so it "listens" and playback through the HDMI device.
When I play something - the sound doesn't go through to the TV and there's no indication the Stereo Mix is working.
If I change my *playback* device to HDMI - it works, so the cable and TV are not the problem.

Weirdest part is that it used to work, but at a certain point in time it just stopped working.

I am running Windows 10, ver. 1909, build 18363.778

Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

Listening to stereo mix - Windows 10

Dear Windows,

My wife and I love watching movies together on our computer, however we now have a young baby and do not want to make any noise in case we disturb her. I had the idea of using stereo mix to route sound through a second pair of headphones so we could both
listen through a pair each, and I've managed to enable stereo mix and select the headphones I want to use to listen to it, however we can't get any sound to come out of the second pair of headphones (the ones that should be playing what stereo mix is picking
up). Could you please assist us here?
