Windows 10: Live tiles not working after update to version 2004

After installing Windows 10 update version 2004, most of the live tiles on my start menu have stopped working. I have tried : turning off then on the live function and resetting the apps. The only tile that still works for some reason is Photos which cycles through some of the images in my Pictures folder, just as before.

The other tiles just show static icons. Among the specific changes I noticed:




Mail - prior to update showed details from latest emails

Microsoft News - used to show latest articles

Weather - used to show the local temperature


and even


Netflix and Spotify used to show last played or recommended.


I realize this is a minor issue. The apps themselves still work normally when opened with the exception of Tune In but that's another story but I liked the live tile feature and it's disappointing to see it go.


Has anyone else experienced something similar or have any recommendations for a possible fix?

Live tile not working?

Windows 10 home 64 bit, version 2004 up to date.

I use Windows News Live tile in the start menu quite often, but for some reason it no longer shows a rotating news feed picture? I can still click on it and go to the news page, but the tile is dead otherwise.
The tile is set correctly as a live tile and I think the settings menu default programs are correct?

Any idea why the tile no longer works?

Suddenly the problem seems to have resolved itself, the tile is now working properly again. Sorry to have bothered you.

• Does this issue persist with all the Live tiles icon?
• Are you able to view the different app’s tiles icon on Start menu?

I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if issue gets resolved:

• Press the Windows key to open the Start menu.
• Right click on the Tiles and click “turn live tile on”.
• Repeat step 2 on the desired tiles.
