Windows 10: Loaded Win but DVD drive is not recognised

I have downloaded Win10 onto my laptop. The DVD is: UltraNote Series: 8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)

I thought that everything was fine after I had re loaded Norton which had disappeared. All other icons and programmes were intact. I then attempted to load another program via a disc but found that win 10 doesn't know that the drive exists.

I am using my PC with win 7 to type this info.

Any suggestions would be very welcome

Windows 10 update freezing cd/dvd then whole system freezes

Hi, no this only made the dvd screen box go white, once the cd had loaded to show what files were on it i could not open them. I returned the settings as requested and now the dvd drive runs but will not load also it does no recognise the dvd shortcut
i have on the desktop an error appears Problem the drive or network the shortcut refers to is unavailable make sure the disk is properly inserted. Bill

 

DVD player stopped working after (KB3150513) installed

I think as well there is a misunderstanding. The physical DVD drive is recognized and working fine. The issue is the Win DVD player that does not load, I need a software fix for that update to to not corrupt or break the Win 10 DVD player.

 

Welcome to Windows 10 & you are not alone in having your DVD go missing. *Smile So did mine. I've posted a few things to another thread about this and so have others. You may find a solution to your system's issue as you read through it.
