"Local Area Connection Connected" But I Don't Have One

    Hello and thanks in advance.

When I click on the WiFi Network icon on the bottom right of my Windows 10 PC, I get a list of all WiFi networks in the surrounding area. Above the list it says "Local Area Connection" and it says that it is "Connected".

This happened a few days ago. I don't have any local area connection, I only use WiFi. I don't use Ethernet cables or anything. In fact, when I go to the Ethernet Settings on my PC, I am told that the Ethernet is Not connected but that the Local Area Connection is Connected.

Can anyone offer any insight and/or solutions?

    Thank you for reading.

    :)

  2. Missing field Connect using in Local Area Connection Properties

Have you tried uninstalling the Network Adapter? Since there is no properties in the Local Area Connection, we suggest that you uninstall the Network Adapter. Follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows Key + R.
    • Type devmgmt.msc.
    • Right click on the Network Adapter.
    • Select Uninstall.
    • Select Ok.
    • Select Scan for Hardware changes.
    Update us on the results.

  3. Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration

So after moving about 70GB to my Windows Home Server 2011 computer, my desktop is no longer able to connect to the internet and is giving a "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" error.

    I have tried:
    Resetting my router/modem/switch
    restarting my computer
    reinstalling NIC drivers
Resetting TCP/IP using "netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt"
    Changing the ipv4 settings thing

"Local Area Connection Connected" But I Don't Have One

Assistance Required Urgently - Local Area Connection Detected

    Pluginz:
I tried your suggestion of disabling NetBIOS over TCP, rebooted my modem & router as well as my computer and that Local Area Connection disappeared! So, thank you.

    FreeBooter:
The MTB results might not reveal any interference to my network, but that does not mean there wasn't any. Whoever is responsible for doing so obviously has the option of doing it or not at the switch of a button.

This is driving me insane and I must get to the bottom of this one way or another.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions / advice?

    Regards,
    Andrew
