Windows 10: Lock screen apps not showing up on lock screen

No not at all.

 

I give up I have tried just about every fix I can find everything below it is a waste. I have been fooling with this for 3 days. Thanks for Trying Shawn but I am done.

Short of doing a repair install, I'm not sure what else to suggest either that may fix it.

As a matter of fact I could not open the mail app and could not repair it. I had to go to another build. But I am not concerned about this, I will be back on the IP next week. Thanks again Shawn*Thumbs

I have done a complete in place upgrade repair, no matter what I do I cannot get any app to show in The Lock screen. So Since the Lock screen is sort of fluff and not really needed for anything I am going to remove it/ A man just has to know his limitations.*Smile

I would not do that over this silly thing, still wondering why I concerned myself with it. OCD??

 

You know, it's not really that important a feature but as soon as I read this I had to test Win+L myself - sure enough my Weather app details were missing from 15063.296's lock screen.

Then I opened the Weather app to check it was still working.

Thereafter the Weather details appeared on the lock screen and continued to do so after I closed the Weather app.

Then I checked Settings > Privacy > Background Apps. I note that at some time I had turned off 'Let apps run in the background'. I turned it back on, then turned it off individually for all apps except Weather. After a Restart the Weather details now appear on the lock screen even if I've never opened the app itself.

 

I have had trouble getting detailed Weather to show on the Spotlight lock screen. I went and pinned Weather to the Start Menu (because I unpin everything when I set Windows 10 up) and waited until it updated. I checked the lock screen Win +L and it was there. I then unpinned Weather from the Start Menu and checked the lock screen again and it is still there. I am not sure what this does, but it worked for me. I found this while searching for the solution. I cannot find that page again so I cannot give credit.

EDIT: In Windows 17604 I have found that after some time I have to go back and pin Weather to the Start Menu again and wait for it to update for Weather details to show up on the Spotlight lock screen. This is the first build that I was not able to delete Weather from the Start Menu and still have it show Weather details on the Spotlight lock screen after doing this once. I think I will just leave it for a while.

Just curious why so many people are bothered with the weather app -- just look outside !!!! or use a phone.

One of the best for phones is actually the BBC weather app (Android and iPhone available world wide - not restricted to only UK users / residents) -- beats all the computer tiles rubbish. Quite frankly I'd be quite happy not to have any of those tiles at all - just a simple cascading menu.

Much better than tiles were the "Gadgets" feature of the much aligned VISTA system. VISTA was fine if it had sufficient hardware power - and I still like the Aero Glass look. I do like though Windows 10 "Spotlight" type feature - new pictures at login time - and of course there are loads of themes as per W7 style.

However on my lock screen weather app works just fine so I'm not sure what your specific problem is -- perhaps a totally clean Windows re-install using the most up to date media creation tool.

You make some valid points. For me it is simply OCD. I don't like tiles myself and I delete all of them on first startup. That is why I find it curious that restoring the Weather tile made Weather on the Spotlight lock screen work for me when nothing else would. I do look outside from time to time and I do have a smartphone and sometimes I even go outside.
