Your welcome ! as far as that reg file you used in that tutorial for option 2, did you run as administrator by right clicking the file and making sure to fully accept the merging to the registry ? Can try that once more if you like before proceeding to repair install.

 

It didn't give me a choice to run as administrator, it just installed into the registry

 

Well I had to do the clean install because for some reason I couldn't boot into windows. Now I have the lock screen but the themes are messed up, can't find them on the computer just in the personalization screen but everything isn't on the screen, like on the bottom it tells you the sound scheme, wallpaper and if there's a screensaver, it all blank there.

 

Could not boot before trying a repair install ? O.K. you did a Clean install how so through Windows install disc or USB Flash drive, clean custom install like shown here in step 10 or upgrade install which kept settings ?

Yes i see that about the themes screen in control panel quite odd that this part is missing. Please specify how you did this clean install, how and when everything went wrong to lead you to do this since i originally specified repair install first.

 

I have windows iso on usb and dvd, but I u sed the dvd and tried repair, no luck, so I finally had to break down and do clean install, having it remove all my programs which I'm slowly getting back installed, I guess it was a good thing cause then I realized some programs I didn't need anymore. My IE 11 is running better too, windows live mail is running better. I did it like the link you provided. I am having another problem though after running sfc /scannow.........it couldn't repair some things and I saved the CBS file in .rar format in case you want to look at it

 

When you said you did a repair you meant from here Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Did not mean Startup repair through the advanced startup screen ? How so no luck with repair install and what happened about no boot issues ?




Either clean install option is going to remove all software, but the first option will keep settings, i would of gone with custom clean install since you did this anyway. sfc /scannow unless i see the cbs log may have to do with Display drivers (Graphics card). No need for a .rar format as it is in a text file and can be copied. C:/Windows/Logs/CBS

 

I tried to do repair like the image above, I also tried the system restore and nothing. I did the completely remove programs, settings, the whole thing. The CBS file is pretty big will it fit here

 

I even tried fixing the boot thing and it all would say successful but it wasn't, so I gave up and did the clean install

 

But this boot thing happened all of a sudden before doing any repair or during a repair ?

 

The boot thing did it before repair that's why I was trying repair

 

Thought so, but the inplace repair upgrade i suggested a few posts back you tried ? If so done from windows disc ?

Wonder what caused you a boot error to begin with. You followed the tutorial by selecting the setup.exe file on the ISO for repair install ?
Thinking either a software or driver was causing your original issue with the lock screen, so be careful putting back software you had on before do it one by one if you do, not all at once. As one can be the culprit.

What did you select when doing a clean install, custom or upgrade ?
