    Lock screen question

O.K. EFI systems can use either MBR or GPT Partition. First try to understand the differences in both...
    http://www.howtogeek.com/193669/what...oning-a-drive/

Your new board will probably have UEFI instead of a BIOS and using GPT ( GUID Partition Table ) you may be better off but you can still use MBR.

You have this issue with this drive on the older PC and unless you need something from one of the partitions on it i would just format this drive and do a clean install of windows 10 on the new PC, unless you do not want to use this drive for the new PC i was not sure. You can make partitions on a drive and much more with GPT.

You can decide to use MBR or GPT according to how it is selected when booting from the Windows 10 disc to install Windows. You would select from the boot manager UEFI DVD Drive or UEFI:USB Drive. The only reason i can understand you wanting to fix it now with this drive is i believe you think it is better to have windows installed on it already for the new PC which i feel is not best.

So I should format my c drive and then install and see how windows wants to install as MBR or GPT

Which PC we talking about for the new one or old one ? Something on the old partition or it was just made with 2 partitions when bought ?
When you install windows you can make partitions. Do you know if this board has UEFI ?

I delete the partition, there wasn't much on it anyway, tomorrow I will format and leave the 1 tb in tack and not partition it. Yes it does have UEFI.

Did you say you were using this Hard Drive for the new PC ? Model of the Hard Drive is a WD Velociraptor, if so good model ?
I would leave it and do a clean install of Windows 10 on it with the new PC and you do not want wrong drivers updated on this drive when using it on the older PC.

Yes the velociraptor is the main drive. I formatted it and had to downlad a program aomei partition to send the accolated space from my deleted drive to the velociraptor, everything seems to be working fine now except for the lock screen, it still just keeps one photo doesn't do the spotlight

Why are you still bothering with this other PC ? You are saying that you are going to use this drive for new PC format it and leave it till it is put into the new PC then windows can be clean installed on it. What is on this partition you are looking to save ?

I'm talking about my new pc build. That raptor drive was partitioned into 2. I deleted the partition that was the smallest and not much info on it, but when I did that the allotted space wasn't near the other half of the drive (driveC) there was a recovery space in between them, so that's why a got that partition program, it will place allotted space to drive no matter where it is, so now I have my raptor at 1tb. That drive was formatted and now being used for my new windows 10. But the locked screen doesn't change on spotlight option.

I'm not even talking about the other MB (pc). I have been talking about my new MB.

Wait a minute, are you telling me you have the new PC built with the WD HDD with the same issue as before ? What is on this allocated space or partition on the drive that you need to keep ? You can always as said partition the drive afterwards. GPT will make several partitions being recovery if done this way and one is hidden.

There's nothing on that small partition that I really needed to save, that's why I deleted it. Yeah I still have that locked screen not changing photos for the spotlight. I have read a lot of people having that problem so maybe it's a windows fluke, it's no big deal I guess I can always change the photo and not use the spotlight option.

    Lock screen question

When you did the clean install on this WD drive which option did you use on boot UEFI or MBR do you remember me mentioning about booting with the Windows 10 disc in the drive to select UEFI : (drive letter) DVD Drive for GPT (GUID) or just (Drive letter) : DVD Drive for MBR ? There will be 2 choices in the boot menu when you boot with the disc inserted, when the ASUS Logo screen comes up to get to the boot menu it is usually one of the F keys, F9, F10, F12 and then will ask to boot from the CD/DVD press any key.

I am wondering which you used for installing Windows 10 to this new PC. If you formatted the HDD before the install there would be no partitions unless you you just deleted a partitions with this software or without. Also trying to wonder why you are keeping a partition from another PC recovery or whatever it is as told can always make another partition if you like to have 2 example C: & D:.

I am also making sure if you used GPT that you are not removing any recovery for windows 10 itself, you do see how mine is in GPT. It makes 4 partitions one that is hidden.

First it was lock screen was skipped and went directly to the log in screen from your original post # 1, now the issues is your unable to change the picture on the lock screen, do i have this correct ? Spotlight is the default picture, select the drop down box and locate where you have any other picture located you want to use. Lock screen is the only place you can change the picture, not the login screen where you input your password as far as i know.

    https://www.windowsphoneinfo.com/threads/change-lock-screen-background-in-windows-10.8954/

I have seen issues like this in the past going back almost a year now about being unable to change the lock screen picture, since installing windows 10 fresh i suggest making sure to get all your Windows updates installed.
Also check ASUS's site for Windows 10 system drivers that are the most important these are some of the first things that should be done. Explain more on this error with changing the picture.

I think it it's MBR. Mine said press any key to boot from cd\dvd. I did managed to fix the locked screen, I just noticed it know when I took the pc out of sleep. I was having issue's with windows update and saw where a lot of people were having the same problem with that version of windows 10. Got a new link to get the 1511 version and did a in place install and got my updates back running and apparently my lock screen. I think windows 10 still has a few bugs in it yet.

When I deleted the one partition and then formatted the drive I thought that would have been formatted too, but I think that little section didn't. It wasn't until I got everything installed and was wondering why my c drive was still the same size as before. When into computer management and saw where the allotted space was still there. I did a search and found out I had to get that aomei partition assistant to put that space into C drive. So that would mean when I was reinstalling windows it was on the original c drive only formatted. Probably if I knew to get this program and add the space into C them format, then install windows I could have choosed the UEFI

To be able to boot from CD/DVD when inserted and you boot up you usually have to select whatever key gets you to the boot menu as said before, there you will see a list of drives on the PC. Well most of these Windows 10 bugs will be fixed when you have received all your Windows updates eventually as i said before and to make sure you are getting all of them especially before thinking it is something else or a new bug. Patience, you just installed a fresh copy it needs to finish updating, don't assume anything yet.

Well i do not know much about this software you used. You only need to do a good format (erase) if your selling it to erase it well otherwise within the Windows 10 clean install you can do all this, format, delete partitions ans make all unallocated space . I was not sure you were installing Windows or the people who put together your PC were.

MBR type you can tell if this was the way it was done by going into Disk Management and right click the grey area to the left of the C: Drive select Properties and go to the Volume Tab it will tell you there. Also tell by way my picture looked which is GPT. To me GPT is newer and can be better but you may not see any differences in performance. You would have to redo the install to go to that type, there might be another way i am not familiar with showing you.
