Windows 10: Locked Out During Customer Support Chat

During a chat with a real live customer support rep, I granted her remote access to my BRAND NEW Lenovo C740 laptop. The rep tried various things to resolve my problem without success. Then she did a factory reset and Customer Support sent me an email re: how to resume the chat. Problem is, I am locked out of my laptop and cannot follow the instructions in the email. I am so angry that I could spit fire. At least before I contacted them for help, I could use the laptop to watch Netflix, Hulu, etc. Now this one-thousand dollar device is a paperweight until I can figure out how to contact another real live person to help me get into the laptop that I bought yesterday. That's right, yesterday. Please help.

Community support can fix most problems except for those that are related to the account itself. For instance, you are having trouble making a payment with the card, there is not much the community could do. It is possible that the card is not accepted.
Or the payment is stuck in limbo and no amount of adding and removing will fix the problem. Such problems are dealt with by chat support.

Even if a particular problem does not come under the purview of chat support, they do act as a starting point. If they are unable to solve the problem, they usually will manage to set you off in the right direction.

Steps to contact chat support.

Step 1. Visit the site by
clicking on this link. On the top right corner, you will find a ‘Sign In’. Sign in with same account you use on your phone. Note : The link will take you to the US site. Even if you are from another country, do not worry about it.



Step 2. Select the phone platform – windowsphone 7 or windowsphone 8. This is very important. If you are not sure about your platform, go to Settings > About on your phone. This will you give you the platform details.



Step 3. Under ‘Category’, select Billing + Payment (Store), from the drop down list.



Step 4. Then select ‘Contact Us’



Step 5. You should now be in the page that says ‘Chat’. Press the big blue button to start chatting with a support person. Note - It is possible that the button might show up in red colour. Every time the author of this wiki tried
the chat support, the button is always blue.

 

Suggestions for Windows 10 Next update and Support Chat

Windows 10 Next Update

On the Start Menu in the Next Update, Where it says Power could you add more menu category's which it should have in the Power Section:

• Shutdown
• Sleep
• Sign Out
• Switch User
• Restart

Support Chat

• You could add a Ding when the Customer has Sent a Message to the Tech
• You could add a Higer Pitched ding when the Tech has sent a Message to the Customer
• You could also add what level (tier) the Tech is
• Along with what they can do for example (Outlook) would be there if they could help with that.

Windows 10

• Could you add more Lock Screen pictures
• Could you add Video Lock Screens such as Gifs
