  1. Lockscreen/Screensaver

What I am trying to accomplish (on a PC) is to have a slideshow play after like 5 or 10 minutes. Then, after 30 minutes, have the monitor go blank. If I press a key, be presented with the Lockscreen.
After watching and playing a little with the screensaver/lockscreen in Windows 10, Build 10074, I noticed that it is different from Windows 8.1. (For one thing, there is that mini-Sportlight.) In 10074 it seems to work in conjunction with the Screensaver, as opposed to cancelling it. In other words, before the Lockscreen slideshow starts, there needs to settings in the Screensaver. Otherwise the Lockscreen waits a set amount of minutes.
This scenario hasn't worked perfectly. Is 10074 having bugs in that area? If my settings for screensaver are 'None', then the screen goes blank after 30 minutes (which seems to be the Lockscreen setting). However, there is no Lockscreen slideshow playing the way it works in 8.1. How do I accomplish that?
Also, if the Lockscreen is presented, it shows the drab picture from Windows-Web-Screen, even if I select a Slideshow from my Pictures folder.
Any ideas or tips? Thanks in advance.

    :)

Windows goes to lock screen after 1 minute "not touching" the computer

There’s another place to check - screensaver settings, under Lockscreen scroll down to the screensaver settings link & there you’ll find a box for setting the time out as well as a box to display the Lockscreen after closing the screensaver. Check this
    isn’t ticked.

For 'Screensaver Clock', try "Nokia Lockscreen" app. It is not a lockscreen yet, but is promising as it shows the clock with black background.

  5. Thanks for replying, Rampage37. And since I posted, I haven't found a solution either. But I'll check back if I get something going.

    Hi, GallicBear --

I have also noticed that the Lockscreen and Screen Saver seem to fight against each other in Windows 10. I've been playing around with various settings trying to get something to occur similar to what you've described. I THINK this is working now (although I haven't had the patience yet to wait for the upper limit of my time range to see what will happen then).

So... you set up the Lockscreen under Settings, Personalization to be a slideshow on whatever folder you've asked for. There are two options for further customization at the bottom.

The first option, "Screen timeout settings" will take you to the power and sleep settings screen. Even though there's a warning at the top of the page that says "The screen and sleep settings don't apply when the lock screen slideshow is playing," this does seem to be the amount of time the lockscreen will play before the screen goes dark. 30 minutes is the default setting, but I usually increase the length of time on mine.

The second option, "Screen Saver Settings," takes you to the old screen saver control box from earlier versions of Windows. By default, once you've asked the Lockscreen to do a slideshow, the Screen Saver box is set to "None" with no other options selected. What you need to do is adjust these settings. First change to any other screen saver, and then switch back to None again -- now you'll be able to tick the "On resume, display logon screen" box and then you can set a value for how long the computer will wait before the screen saver starts (test it at 1 minute if you want).

The trick here is that once you've altered the Screen Saver Settings box, it resets some of the values you had placed on the Lockscreen Personalization settings screen. Specifically, the Lockscreen gets set back to "Picture" instead of "Slideshow" -- but if you go in again and set it to Slideshow again, it should work finally like you're expecting it to.

    cheers,

  7. Thank you, KHaining, for your suggestions. I will keep playing with these settings until I get it right. It seems like Microsoft spends too much time on some things and overlooks other things that can be important to users.
