Windows 10: Logged out of Windows 10 - Local account set up on machine. Need to reset PIN

All instructions I have found regarding resetting/removing PIN on my Microsoft account require me being logged into Windows 10 with that account or having the account on the machine.


I do not have this account logged into any of my machines - though I am being prompted for a PIN which I am unable to remove/reset when trying to log into the Microsoft store.


I would like to access the Microsoft store with my account so I can download software I have already purchased.


Please help!

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

How do you reset windows 10 log on pin password

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Click on Sign-in options on the log on screen. Select Microsoft account.
• Try logging in using Microsoft account and password.
• Once you log into the system, try to change the PIN under accounts/sign-in page.
• Select the Start
  
  button, then select
  Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
• Try to reset the PIN.

Windows 10 pin reset

Since the existing PIN is not working, let us try to remove it and replace it with new one. Please follow the steps listed below:

• Log in as administrator and open File Explorer.
• Go to this location: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC
• Delete everything within that folder.
• Go to Settings, Accounts, and then
  Sign-in Options.
• Click Add a PIN again and set your PIN.

Check the results and see if PIN sign in is working.
