Windows 10: Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel

I have an old steering wheel that worked great up until I recently did a fresh install of Windows 10 ver. 1909. The steering wheel is the Logitech Driving Force GT from 2007.


When I plug it into a USB on my PC now it's not recognised and in the device manager it only shows under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers with the message 'Device Descriptor request failed'. When I run the Logitech gaming software ver. 5.10 as recommended in past forums as this is the last known supported version of the driver it cannot detect the steering wheel. I am assuming this is because Windows doesn't know what type of device this is at all, even in a generic fashion.


Has Windows 10 stopped support and recognition of this steering wheel?

You may temporarily disable the security software and check if this helps.

Have you tried installing the "Logitech Gaming Software" from the Logitech support site for the Driving Force GT?

 

Logitech Driving Force GT steering wheel

I have tried everything!!! I have uninstalled drivers, deleted the wheel form the system, reinstalled everything and still the wheel won't work.

When I boot the computer with the wheel attached, it spins and makes all the noises it should, but once the computer is running, the wheel is not there, not recognized. When I try to reinstall drivers I get the:

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it"

"This operation requires an interactive window station"

This wheel worked flawlessly under windows 7, but since I upgraded(?) to Windows 10, the wheel won't work.

Logitech says they cannot help, they said to ask Microsoft.

So Microsoft, How do I fix this?
