Windows 10: Logitech HD Webcam C615 Does Not Work with Surface Book 3

In April 2020, I purchased a Logitech HD Webcam C615. I needed an external camera that could be moved around in different ways than the fixed built-in camera on my other PC devices. It worked fine with Windows 10 on my other devices all the way through the latest version of Windows 10 v. 20H2, but the increased use of video conferencing and lower RAM necessitated a new computer.


Bought new Surface Book 3 Pro from Microsoft Store January 2021. Specifically purchased because other devices were too slow and unable to keep up with demand for video conferencing at work. Unfortunately, the camera is not recognized by the computer. In Device Manager, there are caution triangles, the device is present in USB and Sound sections, and it shows up in Devices & Printers, but the devices do not show up as choices for video conferencing software MS TEAMS, Zoom, Google Meet, nor Windows Camera App nor camera management software CyberLink YouCam 9








I have tried rolling back the driver, installed the 2 camera management software programs associated with this specific Logitech HD Webcam C615, uninstall/reinstall software, and have applied all updates from the Windows Update center. One suggestion I heard was to use a generic camera driver, but I cannot figure out how to load it. I even tried some suggestions I found in other issue in this Community that were similar, for example, showing hidden devices and adding legacy hardware, but the Logitech drivers/software do not show up in the list of hardware that I manually install, only the internal Microsoft camera is an option.





I have run out of options and need help. Some resource on the web indicate that it is a hardware compatibility issue with USB 3.0, but my Surface Pro 3 tablet and my HP ProBook 6470b both have USB 3.0 ports and there are no issues with them. Both of the other PC devices are equally up to date with the latest versions of Windows 10.


I need suggestions. I need this resolved. It is important for my professional work that this issue be resolved.

After an update of Win10 in early April, my Logitech HD C615 webcam is no longer recognized by my system. Until 03-04-2020 he always worked but now he is seen as a USB video device and I can't get them to work anymore, someone has an idea what I can do about it.
