  2. Nvidia

If you go on Nvidia Website looking for Nvidia's Driver and click on Option 2 , it automatically finds driver for your Nvidia Product. Yes it has something to do with Nvidia.

  5. 1070, great card. Not waiting to see what Vega has to offer? "Should be" out this quarter.

One question I have is how will the release of Vega affect overall Nvidia/AMD GPU pricing. Right now AMD doesn't have a single GPU answer to the 1080, Pascal Titan, or even realistically the GTX 1070.

Just watched a US video on 1070 and 1080 comparisons. He says that if, like me, a person only uses 1 monitor, don't bother, get a 1060. He reckons 1070 and 1080 is going over the top. There is a £400 diff between the 1060 and the 1080.

Just also been reading up on the Vega's from AMD. And the RX series. So I am going to have to do some soul (and bank balance) searching.

Q: If you look at my specs, will my MB support these.

  7. Yes, your MB will support Pascal. I believe your ASUS H81M MB comes with one PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot
, right? I had the EVGA FTW 1080 in an old X58 MB (PCI 2.0) but even it ran and performed just fine at 1080P.

Yes, you have to do soul searching and review searching. One thing that's important is whether you will continue to run at 1080P AND only 60hz. If yes, many would say anything above a 1060 would be overkill with that scenario. But you might want to think of future proofing as well. Maybe you have a high quality wife like Dude has who might surprise you with a 1440P monitor one day *Smile.

PS: lots of good info on the various GPU options here, and many other sites.

now I am confused, card is one thing, maybe an 'ordinary' curve screen might do?????

  11. You should think about matching the performance of your GPU with the performance of your monitor. Right now you have this:

Looking at going back to Nvidia [IMG]

That's a 1080P monitor (1920x1080) with a 60hz refresh rate, meaning it can handle and looks best (no tearing) when games are running at 60 FPS. So, for example, if you kept that monitor all you need is a video card that can run at 1920x1080 and maintain 60 FPS. A GTX 1060 can typically do that. Look at my specs. I also have a 1080p monitor. Why do I have a GTX 1080? Because I like quick response times and high refresh rates. My monitor supports 144HZ, meaning it can handle 144 frames per second. So I need a video card that can generate high frame rates at 1920x1080.

If you want to upgrade your monitor, the next resolution level is 1440p, a monitor screen resolution at 2560 x 1440. You will need a more powerful GPU to be able to run at 2560x1440, even at 60HZ. A GTX 1070-1080 can handle this.

4K monitors are monitors that run at 3840x2160. They are 60HZ monitors. Few video cards can perform at this resolution and maintain 60 FPS. A Pascal Titan, and maybe AMD's new Vega.

Some good info on monitors here.

As posted earlier, the 1060 is not enough for 4K

But I have also been told that the 1070 and 1080 are for multiple monitors, I only want one.
