  1. Lost access to my C:\drive, Permissions won't set

I forgot how I asked for help a month ago or more but with trying to do a Fresh Instal. It started by deleting my Document folder in September, I recovered most of it from a program and the items were not overwritten. Now during or right after I lost my permissions to C:\ Drive and I have spent months trying to get them back. The security tab only has an advance button and says my drive is full but it is almost empty now. When I click on it and go to Advance Security settings it says that it is unable to display current owner, so I try to get ownership but when I hit the button I get back that windows is unable to use the control editor, causing me not to be able to enter any permissions. I have tried safe Mode, command prompts and tried to even do a fresh install but windows can't see the C:\ Drive. Is there something I am missing to take ownership and get the control editor to work. The editor works on files and folders but not on the C: Drive. I also have the same problem with my D:\Drive DVD that has been that way since a year ago.

My Updates, troubleshooter, security and many other item like computer management and most administrative programs even the Task Manager, some of them work in safe mode like command prompt elevated. I am the only account on this computer and as administrator I have my doubts the computer is recognizing me as the administrator. I have not been able to open the hidden administrator account that comes with Windows 10. Can you give me an idea what to do at this point with my Windows 10 Home 64Bit, It is a ASUS PC computer and I was about to back everything up after organizing my files and now I have all of that on external drives that need to be reorganized. I have had plans to go into business with what I had on my computer, now it seems that without my computer I am out of luck. Please help if you can so that the computer reads C:\ drive and D:\ CD Drive. I am lost at sea with a shipwreck.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 c: drive not accessable

I was trying to solve a problem I had with accessing several folders, following the steps on a web site, and

I got a message that the owner of the C; drive was being erased!

Since then I have no access to the c: drive, I keep getting "access denied", "you don't have the proper permissions", "you don't have read permission", and when I finally got into Safe Mode and clicked on C:/properties/security, it said "Owner: Unable to
    display current owner".

I've tried more methods than I want to list trying to get ownership of the C: drive and set permissions back where they belong.

Where is the c: drive owner entered? Would I need to RegEdit? If so, please provide step by step because all I know about RegEdit is that it's dangerous to mess with.....

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

  3. lost access to c drive on windows 10.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

Try these methods and check if that helps:

    Method 1:

I would suggest you to follow these steps to take the ownership of the drive.

    a. Right click on
    Drive C and click Properties.

    b. Switch to
Security tab, click Edit and Add to add your user account, if it is not listed. Assign the
full control permission for your own account and click OK.

    c. Click
Advanced, switch to Ownership tab and click
    Edit button
    .

    d. Highlight
your user account and click Apply, and then click
    OK.

    Method 2:

I would suggest you to disable to UAC settings and check.

    a. In search
    type User account control.

    b. Select
    Change User Account Control Settings.

    c. Move the slider to
    Never notify and click Ok.

    Method 3:

I would suggest you to go through the article and follow the steps given. Here is the link for your reference.

  4. Lost access to my C:\drive, Permissions won't set

    C drive permissions

I screwed up my C drive by setting the permissions to no access. I tried going to hard drive properties, and resetting them. But to no avail.
