Windows 10: Lost activation key, worried new installation will be more costly.

I brought windows 7 a long time ago. I've been lost that key. I upgraded to windows 10 for free when that became available. As of late my hard drive has been acting weird and I worry that if I have to replace my hard drive, that installing windows 10 will cost me cause I would have to buy a new key. I still have my old windows 7 installation disk with the barcode but not the activation key. Is there any other options available to me or will I have to just pay for windows 10.

Activate windows 10 after re-installing (I have lost my product key)

I own a Lenovo T430 laptop. In 2017, I installed Windows 10 using my original Windows 7 product key. Unfortunately, I cannot find that product key anymore. I need to re-install windows 10. Will it be automatically activated after the installation, if I skip the step of asking the product key during the installation?

In my opinion, I believe that my laptop will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers and this will not be a problem. Is that true?

If not, please suggest me a solution or a workaround.

I would suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

To start Product Activation:

• Go to Start, then select Settings, choose
  Update & security, and then select Activation.
• If your device is not activated, the Activate by phone option will be available.
