Windows 10: Lost files and apps when Edge was updated.

There was an automatic update on my Edge 2 days ago, at night while sleeping, when I got up in the morning and turned on my laptop is when I saw it was done. It had info about the new Edge etc. well when I went through a couple screens and turned those off, I see my desktop had been cleared of all my saved files on it, some pictures a couple downloads etc. Just like a new computer first time turning on. Background picture I had as well, it had the standard default windows background. Now, I also lost my windows 10 image or photo viewer. When I click on a photo is says I don't have an app to open a paint 3d image?? This is mainly what I need, to restore the part of the windows 10 program that opens photos etc. Where did it go. I have clicked the drop down on open with and looked for the app on my computer, and it doesn't seem to be there anymore.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.

 

EMUI

Here's the steps to update EMUI 4.1.1 to 5.0 :

• Download the EMUI 5.0(desired version) .zip file, and unzip it.
• Place the .hwt file in the HWThemes folder from your phone.
• Using the Themes app, apply the new theme.
• Restart the phone, in order to see all the new changes.

And you’re done!

Method 1: I suggest you to follow the below method and check.

Steps:

• Press Windows key
• Type Edge
• Right click on Microsoft Edge and select
  Pin to taskbar

Method 2: If the issue still persists, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
  
• 
  Now check for the issue.
