Windows 10: Lost files in Google Drive using Windows Explorer

Hi, I think I've screwed up. Had an old laptop that was near death so placed all my pictures etc into Google Drive (or so I thought) but I did this in Windows Explorer (under the Google Drive file name) - not using the GD browser function. They looked like they were in there, but once the laptop died (completely) I signed in to GD (browser) on another laptop and they aren't there! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Did they not get saved into GD? Thanks!

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
