Lost movies trying to move them, System Restore has been running for hours.

I wanted to make space on the C: drive of my new laptop Samsung Galaxy Book Flex 15.6 using a new 1tb micro SD card as permanent storage. The laptop has a built in card reader specifically for this. I have a lot of movies over 160gb and tried moving the Video folder onto the card, the D: drive, but only about one third of the files were there, the rest showed as empty. The original Video folder and all of my movies were still on the C: drive, so I tried changing the location of the Videos folder from C: to D: drive. It seemed to work at first, but as I went through the files they started to disappear. Finally, I decided to try going to my most recent backup point with Samsung's PC Cleaner and it's been "restoring the registry" for almost 4 hours! Could Norton be what's causing all of these issues? Should I shut down my laptop and try a System Restore with Norton turned off? Is there another way that I can get all of my movies back? Is it even safe to shut down the computer with the System Restore running? Is it taking this long because I have a lot of movie files that need to be moved? Help!?

    :)

  2. Movies & TV

Please don't reset the app or do any those steps that the previous poster suggested, they're unnecessary and can cause other problems.

The first step to try is restoring your purchases from within the settings menu of the Movies & TV app.

Click the … then select Settings, select Restore my available video purchases.

Give it a few minutes to run, then go back to the Purchased tab and try playing the movie again.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks you for posting your reply and update.

I suggest you to check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running on your computer. This service enables System Restore on a computer. Refer the steps below to check the service.

    • Press Windows + R Keys to open run command.
    • Type services.msc and hit Enter.
    • In the services panel look for the ‘Volume Shadow Copy’.
    • Right click on the service and restart the service.
    • Also set the startup type to ‘Automatic’

    System restore running for hours

My computer running Windows 10 suddenly seemed to have no connection to the speakers in my computer and the drivers were MIA. Decided to run a system restore to see if that would fix and it’s been running for 8 hours. I need to use the computer. What
    do i do?
