Windows 10: Lost password shenanigan

I just changed my windows 10 password (not windows account) and memoed it but I must have fucked up, it's not working. Luckily I changed "require sign-in" to never, so I can still login, but I will need my password eventually.
Should I take the risk to logout and banking of the possibility I left a hint at the login page or is it too risky?
I am amazed at the lack of recovery options when I am prompted to enter my password in settings menu btw. It seems it is either you remember your password or it is straight to boot usb/command prompt shenanigans, way too heavy stuff for a humble non-poweruser like me.
