I am quite happy with my Core 2 Duo it is fast enough (3ghz) E8400 for me I am not sure I want to mess with a system that is working perfectly unless the C2D dies. As for Samsung Evo I have never been keen on them my brand of choice is Crucial. I just upgraded the C2D machine to 8gb ram from Crucial the Pentium machine wont take more than 4gb.

Event ID 10016 for every time I launch Chrome or Vivaldi. I can still use the browsers its just that it appears every time.

Also this morning I had got a Event ID 1000 today since my nvidia control panel wouldn't start so I had to reboot.

5 computers with various hardware in this household all working with the fall update.

I did end up having to install some older Nvidia drivers for my custom build as windows did not detect my vid card as being Nvidia and setting the resolution properly. Went back to some older drivers and all working well now.

  6. You will have to slipstream the CU to get an ISO to 16299.19

I have video problems on a desktop with a Nvidia card which may be ok now, don't turn on every day. On a Dell laptop, February 2017 build
where the video settings don't hold after a reboot. Instead of a blue screen it boots to a black screen. Have the latest Intel video driver and no other problems. I think all manufactures use Intel video drivers, but still checking if Dell comes up with another driver.

HP Envy 17 in my system specs and system is running fine, so I guess this is just an observation *Smile
Didn't see this with CU, but since update to FCU ... I'm getting black screen for approx. 15 secs, before the lock screen. All drivers up to date and device manager / event viewer / dism / sfc / chkdsk ... all report no issues. Running latest intel 4600 graphics driver (also tried a couple of previous vers), even tried the default windows video driver. Does in Safe Mode and Clean Boot, so know clue why it happens?

Note: Acts just a like an AMD/ATI graphics card with EnableULPS set to 1 , but to my knowledge intel graphics have no such settings *Sad

  9. A clean install would be better than an MR Restore because the problem you are trying to fix may be in That Restored Image that is unless you imaged a Clean installed Windows 10.

  10. I was "invited" around a month ago to get CU. I declined ... and I purged the C:/$WINDOWS.~BT folder that had magically appeared at that time.

I want to stick with Windows 10. Whereas CU is just Windows 11 in disguise.

From what I've been reading here ... I don't want CU. I don't need the hassle, and I don't need the bugs.

Just info for you. It sounds like you are still on 10586 Update. If you are, and I'm not at all certain, this may apply to you. Support apparently ended 10/10/17...a couple weeks ago. No more security updates, etc. 14393 is still ok. I may be wrong, but here's the info:

You're not wrong. Anniversary Update 1607 (aka 14393) has five months left. Even Fall Creators Update only has 17 months until end of support. But of course, by then there will be newer versions.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...cle-fact-sheet

It's called 'Windows as a Service' and is meant to provide continuous evolution instead having to get to grips with a major makeover once or twice a decade (remember Windows 8?).
