Windows 10: Low Volume When Using Condenser Microphone.

I have a Gigabyte H110M-S2H motherboard with Realtek 6.1.8228 audio drivers and an external condenser microphone. I have a Nvidia 970 graphics card and Win 10 pro build 10240.17443 I was on 1803 until I did a re-install to try to fix this).


It had been working fine at least until end of November. This week I discovered it stopped working. The recording volume of the mic is very low even if I set it to 100% and 30dB enhancement. The condenser mic works on Windows 7. A different mic (cheap clip-on) on Windows 10 works. So that rules out the mic being broken and confirms it is a Windows 10 issue. I re-installed Win10 but even a fresh install failed to fix the problem.


I'm confused why a clip-on mic works but my condenser mic doesn't. And why a fresh install suddenly exhibits the same problems with the mic recording at very low levels.


Regardless, I just hope this problem can be fixed.

Recording with condenser microphone

I bought a new condenser microphone, USB port, for recording podcasts, but the sound is so faint, it is useless, even when the volume can be as high as 98 on my laptop. The speaker volume is on 48

My clip-on mic, jack port, is working fine.

Any tips or remedy for this problem?

Condenser Microphone not working

Hi,

It is a fact that condenser microphones need its own power source to operate properly. Although you have stated on your post that it worked before using an old power supply and/or even the newer one, it might still relate to the device's capability to properly
power up, due to what you have stated that it is not detected by the computer at all. We also don't think that the graphics card might cause this issue as the graphics and sound drivers are totally different from each other and it should not mess up each other.

Moving forward, we need to ask you the following questions so we can isolate the root cause of this issue:

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Have you tried to connect your BM 800 to different audio ports on your computer?
• Have you tried to use both your old and newer power supply?
• Have you tried to connect any other audio peripherals (i.e. earphones, headset with mic, speakers, etc.) to your computer to check if the audio ports doesn't have any issues?
• Have you tried to use your BM 800 to other computer to isolate if the condenser microphone is the one having issues?
• What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

Windows 10 microphone low volume

my microphone volume is very very low, how can I fix this problem on windows 10 laptop. Have deleted and installed new driver.
