Windows 10: Macrium reflect free compatibility

Short question are the images produced on reflect 5.1 compatible with 6.Long question: I have backed up my laptop over wireless to a network drive. Laptop is running xp and networked desktop is running win 10. I plan to change my laptop hard drive to an SSD but need to transfer the OS backed up on my desktop to the new SSD which will be attched to the desktop. Will this work?So far I have been able to mount the laptop backup on desktop and browse the files but will restore work as the laptop cant boot from USB?

Hope so, have got the SATA to IDE connector today just waiting on the SSD now.

 

Is the IDE connector to install the SSD into the laptop with? If so, I wouldn't count on much of a speed improvement. The IDE interface will be your bottleneck.

 

Currently I have a 4gb IDE fujitsu drive from 1998, and am bidding on a IDE SSD 32gb for space and a slight speed improvement. the IDE to SATA converter is so I can connect to my Desktop Sata connectors and image the SSD. Ive also ordered a IDE to SDHC card 2.5 converter and am toying with trying that as the SD card is replaceable.

Well I got a Hitachi 20gb travelstar today and imaged the old laptop OS as planned but it wouldnt boot. I used the restore option but had to use a program on floppy called Bootit NG to rewrite the MBR with a standard MBR which Reflect mustnt do, anyway all running now and the Hitachi is faster and bigger, just waiting for the SSD now.
