I just uninstalled the PE component as post 27. The Win PE was downloaded again and an update applied by Macrium. I now get the correct PE version on the PE stick

    Hi,

It only does that if you have the latest update installed and created the rescue media. Or if you added the boot menu in a previous version.

After the media is created successfully and tested these files can be deleted for those people short on space in their system partition/drive.
MR could or even should delete these IMO as it can easily recreate a new rescue disk without these files remaining on disk.

Not true. This will forces Macrium to prompt for download the appropriate component whether you have/have not updated.
There is an option in Macrium that you can store this folder on another disk:
Other tasks->Edit defaults->Advanced->Macrium Reflect PE Files

    Or

You can also download the WinPE in zip format (pe10_1607x64.zip), save it to an external/internal storage. When prompt for download WinPE component, browse and select this zip file

    Hi,

    What is not true?
If you don't let MR create the rescue media then all you get in "C:\Boot\Drivers" is a text file named SearchPaths

  5. The deleting of "C:\Boot\Macrium" only forces MR to rebuild the ISO, it doesn't force MR to download the latest WIM. It rebuilds the ISO from what is stored under "Users->All Users->Macrium" folder. The only way to get MR to re-download the lastest WIM is to delete the PE component. Then when starting macrium, it will ask to build a new ISO and download the latest WIM (14393).

When performing the MR upgrade to 6.3, it did not download (at least on my system) the latest WIM. Every WINPE rescue disk I made since then was with 10240. This maybe due to bitlocker. Somewhere I read on the Macrium forum that the reason they upgraded the WIM was due to the use of Bitlocker. I don't have Bitlocker on my system so there is no need for bitlocker support on the WINPE. I believe they check that as part of the upgrade. I don't think its a bug, because why burn the bandwidth if you don't have to.

    Hi,

This is the path where MR stores the .WIM file which it uses together with MS ADK components to build its rescue media + drivers if needed.

    "C:\ProgramData\Macrium\Reflect\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment\amd64\en-us"

Even that may not suffice as a copy (as a Zip file) is also stored in "%windir%Installer" , a hidden system folder.
Which is why I advised to uninstall the old version and DL the latest one in the first place.

    Cheers, *Wink

At least in my laptop, no such folder as shown above.

Uninstall Macrium shows four options. One need not uninstall Macrium. Only uninstalling PE Components option(4th option) is sufficient to get new wim.

  9. After some further investigation, it seems M.R. stores its Data components in the "USER" section when its installing on a WIN10 PRO system, vs. using the "PROGRAM DATA" section on a WIN10 HOME system. WOW !

    Hi,

I'm running several machines running PRO and nothing's stored in the User profile as far as I can tell.
    Ditto for the Home version.

I don't have HOME version to verify.
For PRO version: C:\Users\All Users is just a hard link to C:\Program Data. What ever you delete from All Users will also be gone in C:\Program Data and vice versa.

The environment variable: %ALLUSERSPROFILES% is also pointing to C:\Program Data.
