Windows 10: Magic Disappearing PC's

I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this trouble but it's been driving me NUTS!

I have a number of PC's at home here (Mine, Workbench PC, Daughters Laptop, Sons Desktop, Our Video PC hooked to the TV) and it seems that any PC which has been upgraded to W10 and fully updated magically disappears from out network.

I have tries NUMEROUS remidies for this and have had no lucl....UNTIL NOW!!!!

FIXED IT!!!!

So, jere was my fix.

Create a file in Notepad and enter the following lines into it:

net stop fdPHost /yes

net start FDResPub /yes


And then save it as a .BAT file so the system recognises it as a batch file.

I then create a shortcut and make sure it is run as an Administrator.

When you run this file it will then shut down and restart the two offending serviced.

THen when you go back and look at the network you are now visible and others can see files you have shared.



I also set this up in Task Scheduler so it runs, slightly delayed, as I log on.
(I hate things that can be automatic NOT being automatic.)

(Nearly) All of my icons disappeared like magic


I just opened my laptop this morning and this happened. Any suggestions are welcome. I tried deleting the IconCache.db and restart my computer, I tried restoring, I tried to download the bat file and restarting my computer, but it does not work.

• Do you face the same voice issue when you are using other apps?
