Mail and Calendar app crashing after all troubleshooting attempts

    Hello,

My Mail and Calendar apps crash after 5 seconds of opening. I have read and attempted all the other troubleshooting steps in various forums and they have not worked. I just updated windows but the crashing was happening before that.

I was able to remove my accounts off of the mail/calendar apps. Both apps prompt me to add an account upon launch and they crash immediately when trying to click anything.

    My system

    Windows 10 Pro

    Version 20H2

    OS build 19042.630

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.31.0

    Hardware

    intel i5 3570k

    16gb ram

    1080ti gpu

    Troubleshooting steps I have attempted:

    1. Reset the app through windows settings

    2. unintall and reinstall apps through windows store, settings, and using admin powershell

    3. running Windows store troubleshooter

    4. running sfc scan

    5. Disabled email access in settings

    6. Made sure all windows updates were installed

    7. Disabled my windows defender firewall

    8. I attempted to reinstall windows from an iso but it was older and I did not proceed because it would have deleted all my files. Also, I just updated two days ago to the most recent windows and it did not fix it.

    Please help. Thanks.

    :)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Mail and Calendar app crashing after all troubleshooting attempts :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
