Windows 10: Mail and Calendar App not visible in taskbar

I have been having this problem for a week now. Yesterday I spent over an hour chatting with and remoting a Microsoft Rep but the last thing he did was reboot my system and never returned after the reboot. I have come to the community to see if anybody has this problem. I found one entry and the recommended solutions didn't help. One solution was to remove the mail & calendar app and then redownload and install from the app store. This didn't work. I then tried a suggestion of going through the Windows Powershell. No luck with this either. Does anybody have another solution? I have an HP PC running Windows 10. My PC specs are: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 17-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.41 GHz.

Installed RAM: 16.0 GB

System Type: 64-Bit operating system, x64-based processor

No pen or touch input is available

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. One thing I haven't resorted to was to reset my PC.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Mail and Calendar App not visible

My mail and calendar app recently isn't visible in the taskbar even when I had it pinned, whenever I minimise mail the program is still running, however there is no icon showing it is running in the taskbar.

Searching in Cortana doesn't bring up any results when searching for mail, however it is visible in programs and can be opened from there.

Just wanting to know how to resolve this issue as it is very frustrating to not have mail conveniently located in the taskbar.

Secondly:

I have been trying to switch my default mail program to outlook 2016 due to my mail app issues, however everytime I go to change it, windows exits the menu and when I return back to change default program again the program remains as the mail app and not
outlook 2016.

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!

Store Cache - Clear in Windows 8
