Windows 10: Mail App attachments not showing

Good morning,


I'm an IT expert and I am struggling to solve this problem with windows 10 mail app.

Windows 10 and Mail App are up to date with the latest updates.

Some attachments are downloaded and are shown with the paperclip icon but other are missing... I can see them in webmail and not in the mail app.

Apparently it happens randomly.

I have solved my problem installing Mozilla Thunderbird, but it's not the solution I'm looking for; I'd like to be able to use Windows Mail.


Is there any solution to my issue?


Windows 10 and Mail app are in Italian.

Mail app version: 16005.11029.20108.0


Windows update tells there are no updates available.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

To attach a document file on an email, you can follow the step given below:

For Windows 10 Mobile:

• Launch to File Explorer app.
• Press and hold the file that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select Outlook Mail on the suggested applications.

For Windows Phone 8.1:

• Download and install
  Files app.
• Launch Files app.
• Tap and hold the document that you need to attach on the email, and select
  Share button.
• Select the Mail app on the suggested applications.

• With which Email account you're facing this issue?
• What is the file format of those attachments?
• Did you tried accessing the account on Web browser?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted mail app settings. As an initial troubleshooting, I suggest you to try the below steps and check if this helps.

I suggest you to Run the App Troubleshooter -This tool can automatically identify and fix some problems with the
Windows Store and check if that helps.

If the issue still persists, try the below steps.

Change the Sync Settings in the Mail App and check.

• On Search, click on “Mail” to open the Mail App.
• Click on “Settings”.
• Click on “Accounts”.

• Select the option “Email” under the section “Change mail box Sync settings”.
