  1. Mail not running in background

So the Mail app has stopped checking for new messages in the background.

Now it only gives me new mail notifications AFTER I open the app. Kind of defeats the point of notifications.

Anyone know why it could have stopped working and how to fix it?

    :)

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. Mail not running in background :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

  3. Does mail run in the background?

    Hi,
I have the same problem. I can't see windows 10 email app on background apps area, and I don't know how to put it there.
I tryed to uninstall, mas I couldn't. It seems that it is system protected app.
    Any recommendation?
    Thanks in advance,

    Background applications

    Hi Robert,

We understand that you don't want some apps to run on the background of your computer. What we suggest is to
control which apps are allowed to run in the background. To see which apps have permission, just follow the below steps:

    • Open the Start menu or Start screen and select “Settings.”
    • Click or tap the “Privacy” icon in the Settings.
    • Scroll down to the bottom of the list and select “Background apps.”
    • You’ll see a list of apps that have permission to run in the background with an “On/Off” toggle.
Just bear in mind that, apps normally run in the background to update their live tiles, download new data, and receive notifications. If you want an app to continue performing these functions, you should allow it to continue running in
    the background.

Feel free to update us with the results.
