Windows 10: Mail Version Version 16005.12624.20368.0: Locking up when clicking Gmail account

Problem: I launch Mail. Upon launch the two sync'd accounts appear

Clicking the Optonline Account - mail syncs back to February 2020

• I can open mail
• I can toggle back and for mail to mail

Clicking the Gmail Account - mail syncs only to the last mail received on Saturday 5/16 1 mail

• I can read the mail present
• I did notice the ribbon, at the top of each mail present, is missing

Once accessing the gmail account, going back to Optonline, mails are no longer visible, and the application locks.






The behavior started yesterday. Before then, the application work beautifully


I've tried resetting. NG

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and re added the Optonline and Gmail accounts. Same behavior.

If the account has been successfully added and you are facing sync issue, I would suggest that you perform the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

Steps1:

• Go to the Security section of your Google account
• Under Connected apps and sites, go to Apps connected to your account, make sure Windows is on the list.
• After the Google account is connected with your computer, you need to create the new IMAP account. But, before you create a new IMAP account in your Mail app, you need to enable IMAP usage in your Google account. Follow the steps
  below to do so:

• Sign in to Gmail
• Click the gear in the top right
• Select Settings
• Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP
• Select Enable IMAP
• Click Save Changes

Step 2:

After you enabled IMAP usage in your Google account, you can create the new IMAP account in your Mail app, and everything should work fine. Just follow these steps to create the new IMAP account:

• Open the Mail app
• Go to Settings (Cog icon), Accounts, Add Account, Advanced Setup, and then to Internet Email
• Fill in the details like this:

• Account Name: {any string like “My Gmail”}
• Your Name: {your name like “Fred Bloggs”}
• Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com:993
• Account Type: IMAP4
• User name: {your gmail address}
• Password: {the one time password you just generated, otherwise just your gmail password}
• Outgoing SMTP email server: smtp.gmail.com:465
• All checkboxes checked

Now try to connect to your Google account with the new Account.

Potential Solutions

Based on some quick research there may be two options that may help resolve this. . .

1. Enable the 2-Step Verification functionality and security feature with your Gmail account and then use the 2-Step Verification to verify and trust the Windows Mail app to have access to your Gmail account
   
2. Enable and use the Less Secure Apps functionality by turning that ON and using your usual Gmail account password with the Windows Mail app to authenticate

When I try to login to my Hotmail account, my Gmail account comes up

• How do you access your Email account (Web browser or Email client)?

If you are using Mail app, I would suggest you to first check, if Hotmail account is configured on Mail app?

Try these steps below to configure Hotmail account on Mail app:

• 
  Type Mail App in the search bar on the desktop and click on
  Add account in the Mail app Window.
  
• 
  Check for Hotmail account on Choose an account Window. If it is not available, go to
  Other account.
  
• 
  Add you Hotmail account Email address and
  Password in the Other account Window and check, if it works.
  

If both Hotmail and Gmail account is configured on Mail app, you can switch between Gmail and Hotmail account on Mail app. By clicking on the respective account name on bottom left.

If you do not want to use Gmail account on Mail app, you can delete the Gmail account.

Try these steps below to delete the Gmail account on Mail app:

• 
  Type Mail App in the search bar on the desktop and click on
  Add account in the Mail app Window.
  
• 
  Check for Gmail account on Choose an account
  Window, then delete the Gmail account.
  

If you are using a web browser, I would suggest you to go to
https://www.mail.live.com and sign in using your Hotmail.com Email address.
