Windows 10: Maintenance Activator Task

I posted here about year ago concerning a scheduled task called Maintenance Activator. I still cannot find this task listed in the Task Scheduler or by using schtasks /query in command prompt. Does anyone know about or have any information concerning this task?

Maintenance Activator is a routine task in Task scheduler. If you really want to disable it you can simply disable the task or schedule it for business hours.

In case you haven’t noticed, Microsoft actually did enable the idle conditions for Automatic Maintenance, which is the higher-order scheduled task that runs all of the
Windows Automatic Maintenance tasks, including the Windows Defender scheduled tasks – so the Windows Defender scheduled tasks do only run during system idle states when things are working right. And
the reason for this is simply to prevent the maintenance tasks from degrading the performance of your PC by consuming its resources when you’re actively using it.

If the Windows Defender maintenance tasks actually start running when you’re using your PC, then just right-click on the
Windows Defender Scheduled Scan task (the likely culprit) and select “disable”. You certainly don’t need to hack this task in order to keep it from running. But disabling this task will only help in rare cases where
Automatic Maintenance is actually malfunctioning – excessive CPU consumption is more frequently caused by an unwanted or errant process that tends to overwork the
Antimalware Engine because its activity needs to be tracked continuously in real-time (on-access scanning).

 

I think this may be a Microsoft naming anomaly.

Just to confirm, you were looking for "Maintenance Activator" and not Automatic Maintenance? (I'm not familiar with Maintenance Activator, so I just wanted to make sure that's what it's suppose to be)

Yes I am looking for information regarding the Maintenance Activator task. See screenshot. "Reason: Windows will execute 'Maintenance Activator' scheduled task that requested waking the computer."

 

I think the following link has some useful suggestions for fixing this. It was @b1rd suggesting Automatic Maintenance that made me realise I was on the wrong track earlier.

Thanks for the link. I know how to make it go away. However, I want to know more about this task and why it does not show up in the Task Scheduler or C:\windows\system32\tasks or the Registry.
