  1. Major problem with Windows Update stuck at 61% with error 0xC1900104

    Hello there!

Last week I received a notification that my notebook was "authorized" to update to windows 10 version 2004 yes 2004, incredible, and also to windows 10 version 20H2. I didn't understand why I received both permits at the same time.

I decided to go by sequence and update to version 2004 first. After some hours the update process got stuck in 61%, so I let it run the whole night.

Next morning it says there was error 0xC1900104, and "they" would try again later.

After one week and 3 additional failed attempts, I decided to roll-up my sleeves I am a CS engineer. I read several discussions/FAQ/etc, and then I:

    1. ran Windows Update troubleshooter
    2. ran dism and sfc:
      1. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
      2. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
      3. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
      4. SFC /scannow
    3. removed all files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\*
    4. expanded the Microsoft System Reserved Partition for GUI disks in my C: drive, from 128Mb to 1.02Gb.
    5. expanded the EFI-SYSTEM partition in my C: drive, from 100Mb to 1Gb.

Nothing worked. My notebook got always stuck in 61%.

Then I skipped version 2004 and decided to update to version 20H2. And it got stuck in 61% again!!!

    Unbelievable.

The log files in C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther are terrifying, and I didn't try to dig in them.

The only thing that I might think of, is the disk capacity and disk order: my first disk numbered 0 by diskpart.exe is drive D:\, while my second disk numbered 1 by diskpart.exe is drive C:\ btw, my drive D: is absolutely full.

Please, is there any guru who can shed light on this??

    Thanks in advance,

    T.

    :)

    Update problems

    Hi TiffanyBowers,

Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Community. I understand your Lumia 610 keeps getting stuck on step 6 of the update that you're trying to install. I can provide you a few steps to try in an effort to resolve the update issue.

There are a couple of different steps on a support page located at
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2484484
that we'll want to try. I would suggest the steps for stuck in download mode, stuck at OEM splash screen, and error not listed on this page.

Before performing the suggested reset under the steps for error not listed, I would first suggest trying a soft reset. If you're able to remove the battery, leaving it out of the phone for a few minutes will soft reset the phone. Another option for performing
a soft reset would be to hold the power and volume down buttons until the phone has restarted completely.

Please let us know if any of these suggestions are helpful to your update issue.

    Regards,

  3. Windows Update Error 0xc1900104

You can see the size of the MSR (Microsoft System reserved) partition in a Command Prompt or in PowerShell...

    DiskPart

    Select Disk 0

    List Part

    Exit

Windows uses 16 MB these days, but a larger size (124 MB, IIRC) might be a holdover of a previous version. That would be OK. I doubt your MSR is the problem. The size of your Recovery Partition looks a tad odd to me - too big to be Microsoft, somewhat small
to be OEM. But let's duck the issue for now.
