  1. Make 10 look like XP?

I've run the patcher before. I've move dlls and stuff for themes before. That's how I had the first Windows XP theme.

Yeah, the last time I tried the Windows XP theme install I was stuck at the blank logon screen. I hard reset multiple times trying to boot into recovery tools. Good thing I know my password, the run keys, the restart command, and a Windows 8.1 CD for $30 off of Amazon.

Not good enough(rarely works anyhow). If something major happens a system image is the best way to go. Really one should make one every month or before and after major system changes. It's the second most important thing after your Anti Virus.

Good morning d2123cross. Did your PC finish it's hiccup and get back up and running?
One other thing I forgot to mention last night the theme patcher "UxStyle" has been updated to work on windows 10, so you may need to go to the UXStyle site to download the one for 10 or click here

  5. Yeah, it stopped responding so I killed it. Then I restored my computer. After that, I restored the Default theme engine and patched it again. Now my computer has a black screen when it boots into Windows. I am using the current version of the patcher. What should I do?

If you look at my specs for Windows 10 you'll see that my laptop is pretty weak handeling graphics with windows(Linux works great even 3D) and I had a lot of problems theming it with Win7, so I had given up on theming it when in windows. But just for S&G(s%&ts & giggles) I tried it with 10 and it worked except for some ghosting(because of transparency) after closing a window. You could try using a built in windows theme when booting(change before shutting down of course) and rebooting. Also here is an excerpt from what came with the Win8 theme I'm using on 10:
Also maybe trying another theme made for Win8, it could be that the theme you're using makes too many conflicting changes with the system and doesn't follow the Windows API's.

  7. OK then. I haven't done any updates for Ie or anything else since upgrading from Win 7. I'll try another theme for Win 8/.1 and get back to you. I did apply the Windows Technical Preview theme before the restart and this happened. What do you think this might be?

I really don't know in this case. Remember we are using themes designed for a different OS(instead of 6.xxxx now 10.xxxx)

  9. My Windows XP Computer is now making a bootable Windows 8.1 USB that I can boot into the system recovery tools and uninstall the patch. I think that this will take two hours (since the computer is using USB 1.1)

    OUCH!!!

You really should think about getting Macrium Reflect free and install it on your main computer, and then create the WinPE recovery disk (with which you can also create system images, although slower than when its installed) and make an image of Win10.

Here is how to create the WinPE recovery environment.

  12. Will this install on WinXP also? I think it might help in both places.

Yeah I had a similar problem when I wanted to do an offline system file check(sfc /scannow) but you need admin privileges and so it wouldn't work from boot environment for me. Maybe there's a way around it, but I don't know it.
