Windows 10: Manually installing Edge Chromium on Win10 20H2?

Currently running the latest Windows 10 (20H2) created from the Media Creation Tool and this Windows 10 release now has Edge Chromium installed by default. However, when I go into the Edge settings and choose About Microsoft Edge, it will automatically update itself and this is a bit time consuming. I know it is really not so long time to update, but still.

And that is not the only issue, because I know some new settings were appearing that I never even realized before the updating and that is kind of annoying as well. So I had to go back to the settings menu and disable those settings.

Would it be an issue in case I need to reinstall Windows 10 by first downloading and installing the very latest versions of Edge from the below link or will this cause problems since Edge Chromium is now installed by default?

In other words, if I install Edge manually with the updated version of Edge, will it over-ride the settings for Edge that was first installed by Windows 10 at the very beginning of the installation?

Of course, I need to keep track of the above download link as well to maintain and keep track of the updates from there as well and then after that, I would store these Edge update setup files to my USB stick and then install manually.

Edge Chromium

Hi All,

* We have installed edge chromium 84.0.522.63 offline installer and it has upgraded the inbuilt microsoft edge.

* Current edge chromium 84.0.522.63 got upgraded automatically after an update edg chromium 86.0.622.38 has got installed from windows update.

*But this time once the update got installed, it has created duplicate edge chromium shortcut on the task bar.





*we have unpinned the second one manually but after restart it has come back again.



*One thing we noticed it that, when we launch the edge (edge chromium) browser, the duplicate edge chromium shortcut on the task bar is getting removed by itself..





*but once the device is restarted, we can see the edge chromium duplicate shortcut is back.

we can see inconsistent behaviors here with the edge chromium.

*Please check and help about how to get this duplicate task bar edge chromium shortcut removed permanently.

 

Edge Chromium 64 or 32 bit?

When Edge Chromium is rolled out for people from the Windows Updates, does it install the 64-bit version by default? Just checked mine, and if I go into the About Microsoft Edge, I see it has installed the 64-bit version.

I had read that the next feature update for Win10 (20H2) will have Edge Chromium pre-installed by default. Will this also have the Edge Chromium 64-bit version installed?

 

Cannot uninstall Chromium browser at all on Windows 10.

followed the steps you have posted here and was doin' great until the very last step. opened my C: drive but no Chromium folder listed. any other suggestions? really want Chromium off my system as it's a pain in the butt!!!!
