    Manually Updating Windows Defender?


    I've had two blue screen errors recently with the stop code "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL." I was told that this was related to Windows Defender and that it may need an update, or may need to be reinstalled. However, when I try to check for updates, what has happened multiple times is that it says there is a Windows Defender update, begins to load, but then stops at 0% and instead goes back to saying that I am up to date.


    I don't know how to reinstall Windows Defender either, if I were to uninstall it in the first place, so I'm not sure what to do.

    Manually Updating Windows Defender?

    SEtting up automatic updates for windows defender on windows 8

    I have found this on the internet en have set up a task for automatic definitions update for Windows Defender but a window pops up when this starts to run.
    Is there a way to set this without any window popping up so that it just runs in the background?

    Now I'm using
    "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MpCmdRun.exe" -SignatureUpdate -MMPC
