Windows 10: Massive download speed drop after update

Hello,


recently my internet download speed went from a 80-84Mbps to max of 5Mbps, I only work with ethernet cables and can't seem to get this fixed. This problem occurred on both my laptop and desktop, while other computers in the house work perfectly fine with a network cable, so it seems the problem is only with my devices. After running another update on my laptop, this problem seems to be fixed.


On my desktop however nothing seems to work. I already ran virus scans to see if it maybe could be malware (clean), I deleted the network driver and re-installed it (no result), changed the network cable multiple times (no result), ran Windows Update (there are no more updates), did a 2 system restores but they both failed. Also I can't seem to reverse the latest Windows Update.


My router is fine, so the problem lies within the desktop itself.


As this is my main computer and I work in the IT sector, it's very frustrating that I can't seem to solve this problem and that my internet is not as optimal as it should be.


Attached I have the result that I'm currently getting, which normally would be 82Mbps.

Slow Download Speed

• I would suggest you to test the speed using any of the speed test website or app to confirm the upload and download speed.
• I also suggest you to reset the wireless router to check if that helps.
  
• You may plug in the Ethernet cable if available and check the speed.

Try the following methods and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Network Connections troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Network Connections.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists then follow the below method.

Method 2:

I suggest you to update the Network adapters driver from the Device Manager and check if it works.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows + R on the Keyboard.
  
• 
  Type in devmgmt.msc and click on
  Ok.
  
• 
  Expand Network adapters from the window
  
• 
  Right click on the driver and click on Update driver Software.

Microsoft store download speeds and windows 10 app load speeds are very slow

• The latest update I have showing is "2018-02 Cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64 based system KB4074588"
• I've tried all the below steps suggested by Eeshwar Kumar in this link: Why is Windows Store's download speed so slow?
• And also all by Jane La in the below: Microsoft Store Very Low Download Speeds
