Windows 10: Media player and VLC do not see networked TV

Discus and support Media player and VLC do not see networked TV in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; I have a wired connection to my TV.     Media player and VLC do not see networked TV


    I have a wired connection to my TV. The TV and Home network devices see each other on LAN1. However, unable to cast to TV as the win10 media player and VLC do not see LAN1.
    However, if I switch the connection from the TV to the DVD recorder (same LAN1) all is fine and films can be watched.
    Both devices are set to share media.

    Further to the above:
    In Home group joined, media streaming options
    under local networks I have the DVD and under all networks I have the TV.
    As I can operate the DVD under local network, I will have to some how get the TV moved from all networks to local network.

    Any ideas please?

    WMV Video Player no longer useable o Windows 10? How can I view my wmv videos?

    Windows Media Player should still be usable, but have you tried the alternative Movies and TV app? You can also try download VLC Player for Windows 10.

    What is the file format of the video saved?

    Do you get an error message when you try to play it in Movies & TV or Media Player or VLC player or Photos?
