Media player stops after every song with casting to network device

I'm using media player to cast music from my PC to a network receiver. Sometimes it works correctly, automatically moving through all of the songs on the list but often it will stop after every song and I have to click on the next song to get it to play. I've used all of the three trouble shooters for MP, but it hasn't solved the problem.

    :)

Windows Media Player 12 Not Casting

Hello. I have the same problem as the original poster. I am able to cast individual songs to Marantz receiver, but I cannot cast playlists.

Here are some additional details. I have Windows 10 and WMP12.

To cast a song in WMP12 I do the following:

    1. right click song

    2. select "Cast to Device"

    3. select Marantz receiver (I have other device which also appear on list of options to cast to)

When I right click a playlist, and select "Cast to Device", the only option that comes up is "Cast to Device". In other words, "cast to device" appears a second time, none of my devices appear as in step 3 above when only trying to cast an individual song.

I also, after applying the suggest resolutions noted in the posts above, I tried creating a new test playlist, but I couldn't cast that playlist either.

Are there any additional steps I can take to resolve this?

    Thank you.

  3. Windows 10 Media Player 'cast to' does not work on playlists

Windows Media Player in Windows 10

I can select an individual song and select 'cast to device'. This works fine.

If I select a playlist and select 'cast to device' this does not work. When I try to cast a playlist, no network devices are displayed.

Worked fine in windows 7 (using 'play to'). Also used to be able to drag and drop individual songs or playlists to network device in Win7, but drag and drop functionality no longer working in Win10 - I have to right click every song and select 'cast to device'
and then select appropriate device from list.

How do I cast an entire WMP playlist with Windows 10? How do I restore drag and drop functionality to the 'cast to device' window?

I have tried the built in troubleshooter - it makes no difference.

  4. Media player stops after every song with casting to network device

Windows Media Player 'cast to device' does not work on playlists - windows 10

    Hi Sayan,

I have now been trying to get this issue resolved for 6 weeks, and I am still no closer to resolution. All recommendations made so far are all things I had tried before asking for help. I have
asked if this issue can be escalated to the next level, however I don't see this happening?

    To re-summarise the problem:

Windows media player in windows 10

I can select an individual song and select 'cast to device'. This works fine.

If I select a playlist and select 'cast to device' this does not work. When I try to cast a playlist, no network devices are displayed.

This worked fine in windows 7 (using 'play to'). I also used to be able to drag and drop individual songs or playlists to network device in Windows 7, but drag and drop functionality no longer works in Windows 10 - I have to right
click every song and select 'cast to device' and then select appropriate device from list.

How do I cast an entire WMP playlist with Windows 10? How do I restore drag and drop functionality to the 'cast to device' window? Currently to cast a 100 song playlist in windows 10 takes 300 mouse clicks to send each song individually.
This used to be possible with just 3 clicks in windows 7.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    • All my equipment/streaming settings are correct - evident by the fact that I can cast individual songs
    • I have tried the built in Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter - it makes no difference
    • I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling WMP - this made no difference
    • I have checked every single setting in WMP and also on my PC
    • I have automatic updating switched on, and I can confirm that I have the latest build installed.
    • I have tried a clean installation of Windows 10 - this makes no difference
    • I have tried the 'fixit' you recommended, however, this was not applicable to this OS.

As stated, it is not an equipment issue, as 'cast to' will work on individual songs in media player, and will also work on individual songs in windows explorer (therefore all streaming/network settings are correct and all equipment works), however
'cast to device' does not work on a playlist.

Is the microsoft development team aware of this issue and are they working on it? If not, how do we get this issue escalated to the development team?
