Windows 10: Media Player

Discus and support Media Player in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I think there is some confusion between Media Player and Media Center. Some of the claims relate to Media Center. Discussion in 'Windows 10 Software and Apps' started by cfuglein, Jan 25, 2016.

The end of Windows Media Center is a fact, not a claim.

I know - but it was not supposed to be a name, just an adjective. There must be room for some fun.

An adjective requires a noun or a verb. Ooops there I go again. Sorry. Media Player :)

I would say that they dropped support, because not everyone can buy a new OS every time MS has a whim to change it. My 2000 Dodge Intrepid is still supported by Chrysler/Dodge 15 years later. And Dodge didn't ever make them again after 2000.

250 million people still use XP:

Are you sure Chrysler still supports you Intrepid and not after market companies. OK, back on subject. I don't see MS dropping Media Player. If they do or you want to try something different I recommend MPC-HC or VLC. I am also testing PotPlayer which seems to be very good so far. They are all free if you want to try them.

I think the only have to make replacement parts for 10 years after the model is dropped. But there is a law that makes car companies do that and no such law exists for PC operating systems as of yet,

I know this is off topic but yeah, I was always told it was 10 years. As far as I know it hasn't changed. After market can make or rebuild car parts for as long as they want.

  10. - is anybody else having problems syncing devices direct from within WMP..?

    - I used to be able to drag stuff over and sync it straight to my mobile phone, via the WMP playlist interface (- at top, left..)
    - nowadays the only way I can do it is to drag and drop files from the Music folder via File Explorer, to the phone's SD card..

    - even though it's connected via USB, my phone's no longer listed as an available device in WMP12 *Confused

All I know is that if I go to a Chrysler dealer to fix my car, they will. I don't know what parts they're using. If they do use after market, it just shows that there is enough interest for someone to continue to support it.

If I go to Microsoft Support with my XP or say, Windows 3, I doubt they would fix it. However, I can always go across the street to see David, my tech support guy, and he WILL fix it.

All I'm trying to say is that MS does not make it easy to buy a product and use it for a long time. I'm still driving my Intrepid with 105,000 miles on it, and it's 15 years old. The last time I spent any money on it, it was for tires. I wish MS products would be as reliable and last as long.

How many times have you heard, "I hate MS". I do.

As for the other products that you and others have recommended, I have tried most of them, and most of them are more like an Escalade than my Intrepid, and I'm just happy that I found that Media Player is still here. But I wonder, how long will it be supported? *sarc
