Windows 10: Memory Leak, Associated with iaStoreV.sys - No Driver Update Available

So, I was wondering why my Ntoskrnl.exe(system) taking up my Ram so much(about 70-300MB). I Did some search about it, found some article saying that it's memory leakage from drivers that need to be updated. Then I followed the article, installed Windows Driver Kit, ran the Pool Monitor and find some "culprits" and identified it. Finally lots of those culprits have been solved by updating those drivers.

But the problem still exists. The "system" process is still taking up my 4GB RAM gradually from starting up my computer.




So I ran the Pool Monitor(poolmon.exe) again, and found new culprit

I did identify it by using findstr command. It's associated with iaStoreV.sys - which is "Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver". I did try to find the driver and download it but always ended up with "The computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will now exit" error. I can't seem to find any other driver out there.

So my question is, do I really need this driver? Can I remove it? If it can, how? Or, Does anyone know the exact driver for this thing?

Windows 10 Using 16GB of Virtual Memory or 100% disk usage

It's a memory leak, and memory leak leads to inaccurate memory allocations, and can thus exhaust the system memory.

Your best bet is to find out what driver is faulty, and is causing the memory leak.

Is it on your laptop? You can try to use Standard SATA AHCI Controller driver. Open Device Manager-> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers-> manual driver update and select this driver. Reboot you laptop.
Also you can try to find latest supported Intel RST driver for your hardware but usually it is not the latest driver and probably without Win10 support.

I have finally done what you said, ran Pool Monitor again, and finally that culprit is gone. But the problem doesn't end there.
The "system" process keep growing and growing as I'm using my laptop. The worst moment is when you play a game. Last time I play GTA V, it grows up to 900 MB and causes stuttering and lag. I never experienced this before back in windows 8.1.

I tried to find any driver updates, but there's none. Then I ran Pool Monitor again, found new culprit(again). it was Rdyboost.sys​(Readyboost Driver). I never enabled readyboost, so why?

Any Idea how to solve this annoying memory leak? I have tried "tips" from the internet, such as turning off Ndu service via registry, turning off runtime broker(by unchecking "show me tips about windows), updating every drivers, but Ntoskrnl.exe is still 'hungry'.

 

Yep, this is a hackneyed issue on reddit and MS forums last weeks. I noticed it few month ago in one of insider's preview builds, and after a while I created a thead but I still have not received an official response from M$.

After all the circles of hell leaks finally you got a brand new super-duper M$ SuperFetch (caching?), that no one can say for sure what actually it is. The bug or feature*Confused

You can turn it off, Run services.msc find Superfetch and set it start from Auto to Disabled and then reboot. But as it is the service which helps to speed up the system performance especially for slow HDD you can get an issues. Try it and tell us your feedback

 

Yeah, I hate M$ support forum and their tech guy's typical canned responses. "please do clean reboot bla bla bla",

At first I was worrying about the performance if I turned off Superfecth. Some say in the internet that it will decrease HDD performance. I've never used SSD, as a laptop user.

So, I tried to turn it off. Not only the ram usage is dropped to 1,2 GB(in idle), there's no performance impact! System is not 'hungry' anymore. Everything seems fine.

Whoa, just received update(dowloading it right now) a while ago. Reading the info, it includes new Rdyboost.sys. Maybe they have fixed it?

Yeah, but to me it is not perfect solution disabling windows's components to resolve annoying things

I no longer waiting for a miracle. And nope, this update doesn't help

 

False alarm. Altough disabling superfecth free up memory, it make my programs starts with delays. Smooth at first, then I can feel the performance impact. And yeah, newest update doesnt change anything *Mad
