Windows 10: Memory overload after light/intense GPU usage

I've had a new semi-gaming laptop for 4 days Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14AHP9, specs below and i've had a bit of problems with it.CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics 3.80 GhzRam: 16.0 GB 13.8 GB usableWindows 11 HomeGPU: GeForce RTX 3050 6GB Laptop GPUFirst off: after a day or two the laptop refused to use the dGPU, only relying on the integrated GPU. Is GPU-Z displaying my memory usage correctly?

I measured my in-game memory usage trying both ver. 0.5.5 and ver. 0.5.7

While running Skyrim, my Dedicated memory usage is 1742MB and my Dynamic memory usage is 108MB.

Now,

How can the game be occupying 1742MB of my graphic memory if my 5970 only has 1024MB of memory usable? *Confused

 

Runaway memory usage

On your suggestion I went to uninstall AVG. It offered to go into an on-demand mode (I can't remember the word it used to describe).
So I tried that instead of uninstalling. Upon reboot everything seemed unchanged. High CPU usage, memory growth, no good.

So I ran the uninstall. This moved along step by step ... until the last step (titled: replacing files) never completed. It left behind a bunch of its stuff in Program Files:

So I have a bunch of leftover crap ... which I'll probably just delete.

Anyway, after rebooting it seems that all is well. CPU usage is near zero. The fans are quiet. (Computer fans, not football fans!) *chuckle
