  1. Merge unallocated partition with main partition

    Hello volks!

    I've run into a problem...

I cloned my 1tb HDD to a 2tb SSD yesterday. That was successfully completed, however, I'm now left with ~1tb unallocated storage on my cloned SSD. I now want to merge the unallocated storage with the Primary Partition where all the data is on.

Here's the problem: I tried it with Aomei partition assistant. After 2 hours it still said "Filesystem Scanning" (it was just at 15%). I cancelled the process safely.

Now I want to merge the two partitions with Windows Disk Management by extending the volume of the primary partition... There this message came up:

"The operation you selected will convert the selected basic disk(s) to dynamic disk(s). If you convert the disk(s) to dynamic, you will not be able to start installed operation systems from any volume on the disk(s) (except the current boot volume). Are you sure you want to continue?"

Can someone say if it's safe to proceed and what it exactly means? Also, will I be able to normally boot Windows after the conversion after I installed the SSD?

Or are there other methods to merge unallocated storage?

    I'm confused :/

Not Getting Able to Merge Drive with Unallocated Space!

You should be able to right click on partition I:, in Disk Management, and select Extend volume... to add the unallocated space to partition I:. It should be as simple as that. You can't "merge" unallocated space with a partition, because unallocated space is not a partition. To "merge" 2 things those things need to be the same type of thing.

And no, it's not illegal to copy files to another drive.

    Cant merge Partitions

The problem is that 450MB partition sitting in the middle of the unallocated disk space. You need to move that partition to the beginning of the drive, which will consolidate all of the unallocated space into one large block. Afterward, you should be able to create a new partition.
