Windows 10: Messed up and deleted 'WindowsApps' in C:/Program Files

Discus and support Messed up and deleted 'WindowsApps' in C:/Program Files in Microsoft Windows 10 Store to solve the problem; Ok so basically, I had an issue with movies and TVs which is unrelated to this, having no luck fixing it regularly I got ownership of the WindowsApps...     Messed up and deleted 'WindowsApps' in C:/Program Files


    Ok so basically, I had an issue with movies and TVs which is unrelated to this, having no luck fixing it regularly I got ownership of the WindowsApps folder and went to town, AKA deleted all of it thinking SFC would just repair everything, TLDR - it didn't, now literally none of the default windows apps like movies and tv, store, etc, don't even open up anymore, while they were 'added back' along with the WindowsApp folder, their file sizes, for example store's are small like 16 KBs and they of course don't work, how to fix / recover from this stupid mistake?

    Unnecessary apps in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps

    I see a lots of versions of the same app in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. These are apps that I don't even have installed. Overall they are taking up about 10GB.

    1. How can I remove these apps completely?
    2. Or can I keep only the most recent version?

    The storage sense
    suggested here     or disk cleanup of system files has not helped.

    Why I can not open C:\Program Files\WindowsApps ?


    Hey camelia,
    FYI .. that "access control entry is corrupt" message is misleading. It's actually a special permission/condition that is suppose to be there and I would not change/mess with it .... IIRC it's the user DOMAIN\USERS with the Condition Exists (Win://SYSAPPID)

    BTW ... if you're just wanting to take a look inside the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps you should be able to do it by opening a Command Prompt as Admin and cd C:\Program Files\WindowsApps then dir to list the folders.

    Hey x509,
    IIRC ... it's not actually a corrupt entry, but a special permission/condition (Exists:WIN://SYSAPPID) for Users(Pc-Name\Users) and shouldn't be removed. If you must change permissions on the WindowsApps folder and/or sub folders/files .... I suggest you get familiar with ICACLS first and save the current WindowsApps Folder / Sub Folders / File permissions to a acl.txt file, so you can restore them in case you break something (which is very likely when messing with permissions)
